Workset Performance Tips
1
Close unused worksets to improve Revit performance — a model with 20 worksets open is 3-4x slower than one with 5 open.
2
Never put elements on the Views & Sheets workset — only views and sheets belong there. Elements placed there cannot be properly closed for performance.
3
Synchronize with Central every 30–60 minutes minimum to avoid large conflicts. High-activity teams should sync every 20 minutes.
4
Use Worksharing Monitor to see who is in the model and what elements they own before making changes in shared areas.
5
Relinquish all elements before closing Revit to release ownership locks — otherwise team members cannot edit those elements until you reopen and relinquish.
6
Set default workset per user before they start modeling — elements placed without attention land on Workset 1 and are difficult to move in bulk.
7
Create all worksets before enabling worksharing — adding worksets mid-project requires careful coordination and can disrupt active team members.
