AI Learning Academy — Interactive AI Course with Practice Labs

A self-paced AI course in the browser: 10 modules and 30 short lessons, each with a plain-language explanation, a practical example and an understanding check. Seven hands-on practice labs let you rewrite prompts, see how text becomes tokens, change the sampling temperature, inspect an attention map, train a tiny language model on your own text, build a visual agent workflow with approvals, and inspect an API or MCP request. A concept library defines the key terms, and a portfolio saves what you build in your browser.

About this tool — how it works & FAQ

About the AI Learning Academy

The AI Learning Academy is a self-paced course on how modern AI works and how to use it well. It runs in your browser: read a short lesson, answer a check question, then try the idea in a practice lab. Lessons go from what AI is, through prompting, language models, retrieval, APIs, agents and evaluation, to deployment. Your progress and saved projects stay in your own browser.

What the Academy covers

• 10 modules and 30 lessons: AI foundations; Prompting & context; Inside an LLM; Build & adapt models; Knowledge & research; APIs, apps & MCP; Workflows & agents; Build with AI; Reliability & responsible use; Operate & specialize. • Each lesson has a plain-language explanation, a practical example and an understanding check; a correct answer marks the lesson complete. • 7 practice labs: Prompt workshop, Token explorer, Sampling playground, Attention explorer, Train a tiny language model, Agent workflow studio, and API & MCP inspector. • A concept library of short definitions linked to the lessons. • A portfolio where saved lab experiments and agent workflows can be reopened or downloaded as JSON. • A built-in quick-start guide, about five minutes long.

How the practice labs work

Each lab says whether it is a teaching simulation or real local computation. The token and sampling labs show how text is split and how temperature changes a probability distribution. The attention lab shows an illustrative attention map, not a real model's internals. The tiny language model learns character transitions from text you paste, entirely in your browser. In the agent workflow studio you add blocks, connect them, run a practice scenario and approve or reject steps while a trace shows what happened. No AI account or API key is needed.

Who it is for

Engineers, technicians and students who want a clear mental model of AI before relying on it at work: what these systems do well, where they fail, how to check their output, and how they connect to other software. It assumes no programming background; the lessons that mention APIs and code explain the terms first.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an API key or an AI account to use the labs?

No. The labs run locally in your browser as teaching simulations or small local computations. Nothing you type is sent to an AI service.

Where is my progress saved?

In your own browser, on this site address. Completed lessons and saved projects are not stored on EngineersUniverse servers, so clearing site data or switching browsers starts you from the beginning. You can download a saved project as JSON.

How long does the course take?

Each lesson is a short read with one check question. Most people can work through the 30 lessons over several sessions; the labs are optional and take as long as you like.

Is the attention explorer showing a real model?

No. It shows a small, illustrative attention map to explain the idea. Real models have many layers and heads, and an attention map alone does not explain their behavior.

Is this a certification or a substitute for professional training?

No. It is an educational introduction. It does not award a credential, and it is not a substitute for your organization's policies on AI use, data security and review of AI-generated work.

Is the AI Learning Academy free?

No. It is included with the All-Access Pass, a one-time purchase that unlocks every paid tool, lab, reader and program on the site.
