Unlike a fixed model, this simulator generates its single-line diagram and its 3D switchyard from a topology schema, so you can change the substation instead of just viewing it. Open Configure, choose the bus arrangement, set how many incoming lines, transformers and feeders you want, and click Apply & Rebuild: the IEEE-style one-line and the 3D scene are redrawn together. Click any component in either view and the matching element highlights in the other, with its engineering profile shown alongside.
The Configure panel has three steps:
• Arrangement — Single Bus, Main & Transfer Bus, or Ring Bus. The default is a single-bus radial layout with 2 incoming lines, 2 transformers, 3 feeders and an MV switchgear lineup. • Counts — the number of incoming lines, transformers and feeders. Counts apply when you click Apply & Rebuild, and the topology is rebuilt from scratch (bay layout is not preserved, text edits you made to components are). • Asset Library — the built-in classes (power transformer, circuit breaker, disconnect switch, current transformer, voltage transformer, surge arrester, MV switchgear and others) plus your own: add a new asset class by naming it and stacking 3D primitive shapes from bottom to top.
• Split view — the 3D switchyard on the left and the single-line diagram on the right, cross-highlighted on click. • System filter chips — isolate Primary Equipment, Protection, Control, Auxiliary Power, Grounding, Communications, Feeders or Monitoring. • X-Ray and Energized modes — see through the control building, or show the live path glowing through the station. • Edit component text — each info card has an Edit button for the function, safety and operator-notes fields, with Reset to original. • Export Edits — download your component text changes as a file. • Everything is stored in your own browser, not uploaded.
Engineering students, trainers and designers who want to see how the same set of equipment is laid out in a single-bus, main-and-transfer or ring-bus station, and to adapt the equipment library and component descriptions to their own training material. It is an educational visualization, not a protection or short-circuit study tool.
Single Bus, Main & Transfer Bus and Ring Bus. Choose one in the Configure panel, set the counts, and click Apply & Rebuild to regenerate both the single-line diagram and the 3D switchyard.
Changing the counts rebuilds the topology from scratch, so the bay layout is not kept incrementally, but the per-component text edits you already made are kept.
Yes. In the Asset Library step, add a new asset class by giving it a name and stacking 3D primitive shapes from bottom to top, then save the class.
In your own browser (local storage). Nothing is uploaded. Use Export Edits to download your component text changes.
