An AI Data Center Is a Compute Facility Built Around One Constraint: Heat

At the highest level, an AI data center exists to do one thing — keep as many GPUs as possible running at full power, for as long as possible, without a hardware failure or a thermal shutdown interrupting a training job that might run for weeks. Every other system in the building — electrical, cooling, networking, structural — exists to support that single goal. The facility engineering looks fundamentally different from a traditional enterprise data center because the constraint is different: a traditional data center is usually built for space and general-purpose flexibility, while an AI data center is built almost entirely around power delivery and heat removal at extreme density.
