What Is Structured Cabling?
Structured cabling is a standardized approach to building telecommunications infrastructure — a predefined architecture of cables, connectors, and distribution hardware that supports multiple communication protocols simultaneously. A structured cabling system installed per TIA-568 (Commercial Building Telecommunications Cabling Standard) can carry voice, data, video, and building automation signals over the same physical infrastructure for 10–15 years, regardless of changes in active equipment.
