CAP (Certified Automation Professional) is a broader professional certification covering the full automation project lifecycle — design through support.

Yes. NCEES offers the PE Control Systems exam for engineers who design and stamp control and instrumentation systems. It follows the standard FE → ~4 years experience → PE path.

What certification covers SCADA/OT cybersecurity?

OT and ICS cybersecurity is covered by GIAC’s GICSP and ISA’s IEC 62443 certificate program. Both address securing SCADA architectures, OT networks and secure system design.

There is generally no government license for automation technicians; competence is shown through ISA certifications (CCST/CAP). Some work that touches electrical installation may require an electrician license depending on the jurisdiction.
