What CAE / Simulation Engineers Do
CAE and simulation engineers run the analysis work that validates designs before they're built — structural FEA in ANSYS or Abaqus, CFD studies for thermal and fluid behavior, and control-system modeling in MATLAB/Simulink. They translate CAD geometry into meshed models, apply loads and boundary conditions, interpret results against design margins, and write up findings for design engineers who may not have simulation expertise themselves. Beyond running analyses, many CAE engineers become the de facto administrators of their team's engineering software stack.
