About the Air Pollution Scrubber Simulator

Contact gas with descending liquid. A packed column, spray manifold, mist eliminator and recirculation sump demonstrate absorption and contaminant capture.

What the simulator shows

• 3D scene parts: Packed contact column; spray distributor; packing rings; mist eliminator; recirculation sump / pump. • Controls: Gas throughput (500–3000 m³/h); Liquid circulation (0.5–5 m³/h); Inlet contaminant (100–1000 mg/m³); Absorption availability (0–1 fraction). • Live readouts: Capture efficiency (%); Outlet contaminant (mg/m³); Captured mass rate (kg/h); Accumulated captured mass (kg). • Guided experiments: Absorbent unavailable; More liquid contact. • Four tabs (visual laboratory, curves and measurements, experiments, learn and assess), a model-verification run, a timestamped event log and a trial report.

The model equations

η = 1−exp(−500 L/G × availability) Cout = Cin(1−η) Captured kg/h = G Cin η /10⁶ 1 playback s = 0.1 process h

Model limits and how to explore

Dimensionless illustrative contact correlation with L and G in the same volumetric units. No chemical equilibrium, pH, reagent depletion or pressure-drop calculation. Captured inventory is a bookkeeping total. Try the preset experiments, then compare the live readouts with the equations.

Frequently asked questions

Which statement follows from this model?

Counterflow promotes gas-liquid contact..

Can these representative results establish regulatory compliance?

No. Dimensionless illustrative contact correlation with L and G in the same volumetric units. No chemical equilibrium, pH, reagent depletion or pressure-drop calculation. Captured inventory is a bookkeeping total.

What does this simulator not model?

Dimensionless illustrative contact correlation with L and G in the same volumetric units. No chemical equilibrium, pH, reagent depletion or pressure-drop calculation. Captured inventory is a bookkeeping total.
