Installation

Racking attachment and roof penetration sealing, ground-mount pile and pier foundations, conduit routing and conductor termination, NEC 690 labeling requirements, and the fall-protection, arc-flash, and lockout/tagout practices specific to PV work.

A permit set and an equipment schedule describe a system that doesn't exist yet; installation is where that design becomes a physical, weatherproof structure that has to survive decades of wind and thermal cycling without a single attachment leaking or a single termination loosening. This module works through mechanical installation — racking attachment loads, roof-type-specific penetration sealing, and ground-mount foundation selection — electrical installation practice under NEC 690, and the safety disciplines that carry PV-specific complications generic construction safety training doesn't cover.

By the end of this module you should be able to explain why a PV array can never be fully de-energized simply by opening a disconnect the way an AC circuit can — and what that means for arc-flash awareness and lockout/tagout procedure on every PV job, not just the electrical design covered in earlier modules.
