This module is where a population of relays, fuses, and breakers stops being a parts list and becomes an actual settings package. Every decision traces back to a fault current calculation — maximum and minimum, at every relevant bus — and every setting is placed on a time-current curve relative to its neighbors with a deliberate coordination time interval built in, so a fault anywhere on the system is cleared by the closest device first and by nothing else unless that device fails.
The module closes with the two disciplines that depend most directly on getting coordination right: CT and VT selection, since a saturated or misapplied instrument transformer silently invalidates every setting built on top of it, and arc flash studies, where the fastest possible clearing time for worker safety and the coordination margin that preserves selectivity pull in opposite directions — and reconciling that tension, not picking one side, is the actual engineering task.
