Real Project: Enterprise Wi-Fi Deployment

An 8-story, 220,000 sq ft corporate office Wi-Fi 6E deployment — site survey methodology, a worked coverage-vs-capacity AP count, channel planning across three bands with very different amounts of usable spectrum, roaming/QoS design for voice-over-Wi-Fi, and a WPA3-Enterprise security architecture.

The project brief: 1,600 employees across 8 floors, replacing an aging Wi-Fi 5 network with tri-radio 802.11ax access points engineered for three very different traffic classes sharing the same spectrum — general data, real-time voice/video, and a growing IoT population. Design targets (minimum RSSI, SNR, concurrent-client capacity) are set before a single AP is placed, and every later decision — AP count, channel plan, roaming thresholds, security segmentation — traces back to them.

This module walks the whole project end to end: predictive vs. active AP-on-a-stick validation surveys, a full worked derivation of the 1,500 sq ft/AP coverage figure from an indoor RF link budget, why the resulting 19-AP-per-floor design is coverage-limited rather than capacity-limited, how 9 non-DFS 5 GHz channels, 29 non-overlapping 6 GHz channels, and 3 legacy 2.4 GHz channels get assigned across that AP density, 802.11r/k/v roaming design for VoWiFi, and WPA3-Enterprise plus fully segmented guest/IoT networking.
