From relay logic to PLCs, VFDs as an integration point rather than a piece of hardware, start/stop and interlocking circuits, permissives vs. safety interlocks — and the actual engineering judgment behind deciding what the control logic should do.
Module 8 built the motor-side hardware: contactors, overload relays, and starters. This module assembles that hardware into control circuits — and looks at the VFD again from a completely different angle, not what variable frequency does to a winding, but how a drive's speed reference and status data get wired and programmed into the rest of the control system.
By the end of this module you should be able to tell a permissive from a safety interlock, explain why some safety logic stays hardwired outside a PLC on purpose, and — the real point of the module — produce the sequence-of-operations reasoning behind a control scheme instead of just wiring one someone else already designed. Module 10's troubleshooting method starts from exactly that reasoning.
