Fire Alarm Inspection & Maintenance

Keeping a system that passed, passing — ITM frequencies, functional testing, battery replacement, detector sensitivity testing, defensible documentation, and deficiency tracking for the decades a system spends in service after commissioning.

Module 11 covered the one-time acceptance test that commissions a new system. This module covers everything that happens after: the recurring inspection, testing, and maintenance (ITM) cycle that keeps a correctly designed and installed system performing the way it was designed to, for as long as it's in service — not a fault-diagnosis exercise, which is Module 13's territory.

You'll work through why NFPA 72's ITM frequency tables vary by component, what functional testing actually means on a periodic cycle versus a one-time acceptance test, the real load-test procedure behind calendar-based battery replacement, why sensitivity testing catches something a functional alarm test can't, what a defensible inspection report needs to include, and how a found deficiency gets tracked to correction — closing with who actually owns this responsibility and why a clear written service contract is what makes it happen reliably.
