A complete worked fire alarm design for an industrial manufacturing facility — harsh-environment device selection, process equipment shutdown interlocks, and hazardous-area design considerations, from occupancy analysis through to a finished design.
The project brief: a single-story, 80,000 sq ft light-manufacturing plant, occupancy classification Factory Industrial, Moderate Hazard (IBC Group F-1), organized into a general assembly floor, a paint/finishing booth area, a machine shop area with significant ambient heat and vibration from process equipment, and an office/administrative wing. Unlike the School or Hospital case studies, occupancy classification isn't the dominant design driver here — the environmental conditions actually present in each space are, and that genuinely changes device selection in a way no earlier project in this series has required.
