Fluid Mechanics: From Fluid Properties to a Sized Pump

Fluid properties, pressure, flow rate, Bernoulli's principle, head loss, pumps, compressors, fans, piping systems, and valves — the calculations that size a real fluid system, start to finish.

This module runs the same sequence every pump-station or piping design actually follows: fluid properties and pressure basics, the continuity equation's effect on pipe sizing, Bernoulli's principle and exactly where its clean textbook form stops being sufficient, Darcy-Weisbach and minor-loss head calculations that build the system curve, and the pump, compressor, or fan selection — affinity laws and NPSH included — that has to meet that curve at a safe operating point.

It closes on valve selection, cavitation, and water hammer, where a system's stored energy either stays under control or turns into real damage — exactly the chain Project 2 (Pumping Station) later in this program runs end to end, and the same head-loss and NPSH logic Module 16's troubleshooting content uses to diagnose a pump that won't hit its rated flow.
