A correct CAD model and a correct PLC program are not yet a machine — it still has to be manufactured within achievable tolerances, assembled correctly, inspected against a real acceptance standard, and kept reliable for years afterward. This module covers designing so the machine can actually be built and maintained (DFM, tolerances, fastening, QC, reliability, preventive maintenance, root cause analysis) and documenting it so someone else can build, wire, and repair it without the original engineer in the room (assembly drawings, BOMs, wiring diagrams, pneumatic/hydraulic schematics, functional specifications, control narratives, maintenance manuals).
A recurring theme ties both halves together: the same discipline that catches a tolerance stack-up before parts are cut is what keeps a wiring diagram accurate eight years after commissioning — making sure the real, physical machine actually matches what the engineer intended.
