Physical security engineering spans CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, and perimeter security as one integrated discipline, not four unrelated trades. This module builds the mental model the rest of the program assumes: the deter-detect-delay-respond layered model, the threat-vulnerability-consequence framework that should drive every design decision, and why these systems increasingly converge into a single PSIM platform rather than being designed in isolation.

By the end of this module you should be able to explain why a system's delay layer has to be sized against its response time, not evaluated on its own — a sizing relationship Module 5's intrusion detection content and Module 6's perimeter security content each return to from their own side of the problem.
