Medical equipment management programs, risk-based preventive maintenance and electrical safety testing, and the Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician role.
Every Joint Commission-accredited hospital is required to operate a written Medical Equipment Management Program under its Environment of Care standards, and this module builds that framework — the equipment inventory that captures function, physical risk, maintenance requirements, and incident history for every managed device, and the risk-based criteria (following AAMI's alternative equipment maintenance guidance) that determine which equipment categories get inspected on which schedule.
It then covers preventive maintenance scheduling and electrical safety testing performed in the clinical setting itself, and the Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician role and typical clinical engineering department structure, closing the loop back to the imaging equipment coverage in Module 7 and forward into the electrical safety limits detailed fully in Module 18.
