Building Analytics

Fault detection versus broader analytics, key performance indicators like EUI and comfort metrics, trend data analysis and peer benchmarking, analytics platform architecture, normalized point tagging with Project Haystack and Brick Schema, and turning insight into actioned work orders.

Where Module 10's fault detection asks whether one piece of equipment is broken right now, this module asks the broader question: how is the whole building, or an entire portfolio, actually performing against energy, comfort, and operational targets — and where does the highest-value opportunity for improvement actually sit. EUI, comfort and runtime KPIs, degree-day normalization and change-point regression, ENERGY STAR benchmarking, and the on-prem-versus-cloud, Haystack-versus-Brick architecture questions behind a real analytics platform are all covered with the same worked-example grounding this program applies throughout.

By the end of this module you should be able to explain why a raw BAS point name is meaningless across a portfolio without a tagging convention, and why an accurate analytics dashboard that nobody is accountable for acting on delivers zero operational value.
