Smart Sensors & IoT Devices

Wireless sensor networks (Zigbee, Z-Wave, WiFi, LoRaWAN) versus wired BAS points, multi-sensor devices, battery-powered sensor trade-offs, placement and calibration best practices, and IoT platform integration back into the BAS and analytics.

This module covers the sensing layer feeding the digital twin, fault detection, and analytics systems built in the three preceding modules: how wireless sensor networks trade a wired point's reliability for retrofit-friendly installation flexibility, how a single multi-sensor device consolidates occupancy, temperature, humidity, CO2, and light into one enclosure, and the placement, calibration, and battery-maintenance discipline that keeps that sensor data trustworthy once it's deployed.

By the end of this module you should be able to choose the right wireless protocol for a given sensing scenario, spot a placement error that would quietly bias a control sequence, and explain how denser IoT sensor data feeds directly back into the FDD and analytics platforms covered earlier in this program.
