Troubleshooting

A systematic diagnostic methodology for corrupt/oversized files, worksharing sync failures, missing or broken links, view/sheet errors, and family/type mismatches after upgrades — plus performance diagnosis, escalation, backup/detach-and-purge recovery, and documenting recurring issues.

Restarting the software and hoping a problem quietly goes away is a coin flip dressed up as a fix. This module works through a structured, four-step diagnostic approach — reproduce the symptom precisely, form a diagnosis consistent with it, run a targeted confirming test, then apply the fix that follows from a confirmed cause — and applies it across the CAD/BIM production issues a real project team actually hits: file corruption versus bloat, worksharing ownership conflicts, broken file paths versus coordinate mismatches, and version-specific family behavior changes after a software upgrade.

By the end of this module you should be able to explain why escalating with a confirmed diagnosis resolves faster than escalating with only a symptom, and why documenting a recurring issue's confirmed root cause turns a one-off fix into a team-wide standards improvement instead of a problem that gets rediscovered from scratch.
