The project brief: an automated distribution center moving cartons across 1.2 miles of powered conveyor through 42 zero-pressure-accumulation zones, 18 barcode scanners, and a 64-chute sliding-shoe sorter. Unlike every earlier project in this program, nothing here is a chemical, thermal, or pressure process — the entire engineering challenge is coordinating the physical movement and identification of thousands of discrete cartons per hour without collisions, jams, or misreads.
