Module 11 · Motor Control

Motor Control

Motor starters, VFD programming and braking, servo systems, stepper motors, coordinated motion control, and the safety interlocks that keep all of it from becoming a hazard.

Every process this program has controlled through Modules 3-10 eventually has to move something — and this module is where PLC outputs and drive parameters actually turn into torque, position, and coordinated axis motion. It starts with the contactor-and-overload starter every automated motor still depends on, works through VFD parameter programming and where a decelerating load's kinetic energy actually goes, then covers servo and stepper positioning and the multi-axis motion control that coordinates them.

It closes on safety interlocks and Safe Torque Off — the bridge into Module 12, where functional safety, SIL, and the rest of the safety-instrumented-system layer get the full treatment.
