Inspection

NFPA 25 inspection, testing, and maintenance frequencies for sprinkler, standpipe, and fire pump systems — weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual, and the five-year internal pipe investigation — plus the deficiencies inspectors find most often and the documentation obligations that make an ITM program defensible.

A sprinkler system that passed acceptance testing at installation isn't guaranteed to still work correctly years later — valves get closed and forgotten, corrosion works invisibly on wetted pipe, and a dry system's air supply can fail quietly. NFPA 25 is the standard governing that ongoing sustained-performance obligation, genuinely distinct from the design standards (NFPA 13, 14, 20) this program's earlier modules covered. This module works through NFPA 25's inspection and testing frequencies in detail: weekly control valve and gauge checks, quarterly waterflow alarm testing, the comprehensive annual inspection, standpipe flow testing, fire pump churn and flow testing, and the five-year internal pipe investigation.

It closes with the deficiencies real inspections find most often — a closed control valve tops the list, followed by obstructed sprinkler clearance, corrosion, and low supervisory air pressure — and the inspector's reporting and impairment-notification obligations that turn ITM into a defensible, auditable program rather than a checklist performed and forgotten.
